Character Experiences
Bring history to life with live visits from historical characters. With experiences ranging from a couple of hours to a full day, and a range of different characters for you to meet, we have something for everyone.
Greek Myths
King Odysseus tells the story of the worst holiday of his life- the Trojan War!

Session runs for two hours and features the story of the Iliad as told by King Odysseus.
Activities include:
Introduction: learn a little bit about the Ancient Greeks, their weapons and armour.
Story session: An interactive and age appropriate telling of the Iliad.
Weapon handling/ Q&A: An opportunity to handle some of the weapons and to ask the characters any questions.
Battle of Hastings
Join William, Duke of Normandy and Harold Godwinson as they battle for the throne of England.

This session is offered in 2, 4 and 6 hour versions, and includes the story of the Battle of Hastings, as told by William, Duke of Normandy and Earl Harold Godwinson.
All sessions involve:
Introduction: An introduction to the background of the battle.
The Story of the Battle: An interactive retelling of the Battle of Hastings, where participants become the armies of Normans and Saxons.
Weapons handling/ Q&A Session: A chance to learn more about the weaponry used in the battle and to ask the characters questions.
Half day (4 hour) session will also include:
Weaponry demonstration: a demonstration of the different types of weaponry used at the battle.
Full day (6 hour) session will also include:
The Feudal system: An interactive discussion of the feudal system and its effects on England.
Robin Hood and Maid Marian
Robin Hood and Maid Marian join you to share their adventures in Sherwood Forest, and explore the real-life medieval history behind the tales.

This session is available in 2, 4 or 6 hour sessions and includes selected Robin Hood myths as told by Robin Hood and Maid Marian.
All sessions include:
Introduction: A background to Robin Hood and life in the reign of Richard the Lionheart.
Robin Hood stories: An interactive telling of selected Robin Hood myths.
Weapons handling/ Q&A: A chance to handle some of the weaponry and to ask the characters questions.
The half day (4 hour) session and full day (6 hour) session will also include:
Archery: learn Robin Hood’s most famous skill. Have a go archery session led by Archery GB qualified instructors.
(Note: half day session does not include weapons handling activity. Full day session includes all mentioned activities. )
Tudors
Join Sir Francis Drake to hear how he (with the help of a few others) saved England from the Spanish Armada, and made some money to boot!

This session runs for two hours and features Sir Francis Drake telling the story of the Spanish Armada.
Activities include:
Introduction: introduction to the Tudors and the background to the Spanish Armada.
The Armada: An interactive telling of the story of the Spanish Armada.
Weapons handling/ Q&A session: An opportunity to handle some weaponry from the period and to ask the characters questions.
